- Survived a shipwreck with his entire crew; trekked into the jungle as a group
- Witnessed every single one of them die in some horrific display
- Overcame death with his sheer desperation and escaped to live in the jungle
- Gradually went crazy and gained a reputation as a beastman over time
- Whatever happened to his crew took place in the volcanic caverns

Major encounter: You fight him at the entrance to the volcanic caverns, but it’s hinted that he was just trying to keep you safe by preventing you from entering

When asked about it later he says he was scared of the rock people (harmless) but it isn’t clear how true that is (or whether he even realizes how true/false that is)
